The Swedish shoe brand Vagabond is getting into clothing with a limited edition women’s leather jacket.

In a statement, the retailer said it was expanding its repertoire by creating an “ultimate companion” for its boots using its many years of leatherworking expertise.

The jacket was designed by Vagabond’s in-house team and then handcrafted in Portugal in limited numbers.

The Varberg-based brand described its first wearable product as being “full of typical Vagabond DNA – timeless but still with that raw edge and oversized silhouette, made to be worn again and again”.

The jacket is now available to buy via the Vagabond website and at select retailers across the world for £550.

Marie Nilsson Peterzén, creative director and co-founder of Vagabond Shoemakers, said: “During the development of the jacket, it was obvious that we would be working in leather. As it’s a material we’ve used for decades and eventually become experts in, it seemed like the natural step to create a leather jacket.

When asked if the brand plans to release more apparel items, or an entire collection, in the future, Peterzén said, “We’re always keen to showcase new ideas, either as part of of our Atelier by Vagabond concept, or, as in this case, an entirely new product collection.

“Let’s see what comes of it. So far we are happy to see that there is huge interest from the market.

Vagabond is currently sold at retailers in approximately 45 markets. In the United Kingdom, the brand works with around twenty retailers and has 50 points of sale.
