Slough jacket potato stand owners ‘overwhelmed’ with support

THE community has shared ‘overwhelming’ support for a popular stall on Slough High Street.

Slough’s Jacket Potato Stand, run by Jane, Jack and Johnny Hughes, celebrates 31 years of trading in the town in September.

And we spoke to the family about how they found running the business on the high street over the years.

Hundreds of people have shared their thoughts on how they enjoyed spuds when they tried them.

And many locals called them the “best jacket potatoes ever.”

Ying, Jane and Jack work hard on Tuesday lunchtimes.

Here are some of the positive comments the stand received on our Facebook page:

Theresa Carter said: “I’ve had them for over 15 years and love them – the chilli and cheese are the best – kudos to the team – you always serve with a smile and a conversation.”

Paula Lyth added: “My favorite potatoes at home…cheese and chili con carne were my favorite toppings. Fantastic to know that the stand is still going strong even though the main street changes.

And Jo Darren Loddy said: “I love these handsome humans. I worked at Littlewoods many years ago so I’ve known these guys for a long time. I love the always fresh jackets.

Employees reminisced about former Yellow Pages, First Choice and Office Angels as they all shared memories of when they bought the spuds during their lunch breaks.

Responding to all messages, Jane Hughes thanked everyone for supporting the company over the years.

She said: ‘We are so grateful for all the support and overwhelmed with the love the people of Slough have shown us.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers.

“We are grateful for new customers and those who come back year after year to buy our food.”

She added that if not for the customers they would not have been on Slough High Street for 31 years.

Jane said: “We look forward to having a continued presence in Slough High Street and seeing new and old faces in the years to come.”
