Samsung upsells ‘next-tier jacket potatoes’

Friends and business partners, Onur and Ozan have owned a successful international creative agency in Bournemouth since 2010. Deep in their minds they have long harbored the idea of bringing little-known Turkish street food to the UK .

Knowing the love of the British for the jacket potato, they were sure that a version of the traditional kumpir, refined and sexed up for the British palate would be a hit.

2020 might not seem like the most auspicious time to embark on a new endeavor, but somehow the stars aligned and Kumpi was born.

“We are so proud to finally be able to bring our idea to life, and really hope you enjoy your taste of Kumpi!”, they say.

The business grew out of a dark kitchen during the Covid pandemic, only filling takeout orders. Due to its success, Kumpi launched its first brick-and-mortar restaurant, with aspiration to franchise the business in 2023.

To address staffing challenges, embrace digitalization on the high street, and capitalize on the opportunity to increase upsells – Kumpi embarked on a comprehensive signage renovation and branding software project on measure.

The restaurant worked with AV integrator MediaZest, which brought together Samsung touchscreens with digital signage software Evexi.

The digital signage project supported the rebranding of the Kumpi store and increased upselling. It also caters to post-Covid consumer appetite for contactless shopping, with 60% of footfall opting for contactless shopping, reducing staffing requirements.

Kumpi works with Samsung hardware which includes:

  • Self-Order Kiosk – KM24A + Evexi Software – a self-order kiosk journey, built with a focus on in-app upselling to increase average order size and drive increased sales revenue
  • Digital menu board and MagicInfo Cloud – QM43R – showing products with the ability to change prices or product information through the CMS
  • Offer screen and MagicInfo Cloud – QM43R – displaying promotional offers and meal offers on a daily basis controlled via MagicInfo
  • Portrait Touch Menu QM43R-T and MagicInfo Cloud – display menu and allergen information, which is a legal requirement

The Evexi software used by Kump offers native interactive features for brands and retailers. The ability to interact with screens in real time via a mobile device is provided as an “out of the box” feature. It also offers an open API, allowing brands to extend their existing systems to digital signage and automate content delivery.

Evexi supports all Samsung Kiosk devices as well as payment providers like Square and Striple. Its marketplace products also facilitate “no-code” QSR deployments or custom solutions through its open web application platform.
